Finding the Smell: Dead Animal Location in Harris County, Georgia

Wildlife removal can get messy when it comes to both living and dead animals, no one understands that like Jarrod’s Wildlife and Pest Control.  In fact, we understand it so well that we have developed our own, very effective, locating techniques to minimize the time it takes and the mess it makes when searching for dead animals – particularly in wall cavities.  Sometimes, it isn’t quite as easy as opening up a hole in the wall and finding your dead animal, however; there are times you have to get a little dirty.

While working in Harris County, we received a call from a customer complaining about a horrible smell that was wafting through the house.  They were concerned that there was a dead animal in the walls, so we scheduled an appointment and headed that way.  When we entered the house, it didn’t take long for us to confirm that there was in fact a dead animal, but not in the walls like they had suspected. We were almost positive that it was inside of the furnace, so one of our guys suited up while the others took apart the furnace, and then crawled inside to see what was going on.  He was in far past his boots, and by the time he found the dead rats in the duct work, we couldn’t see him without a flashlight shining down.  After successfully removing all dead rats in sight, he slowly worked his way back out.

We know that not every job is solved as easily as this one.  Most jobs involving dead animals aren’t this clean, either.  Oftentimes, you open up a wall, crawlspace, or vent to find a rotting carcass with maggots and a smell that would make your hair stand on end and teeth clench for days.  Dead or alive, we’re here to help with your wildlife problems.

We resolve many types of wildlife control conflicts in Harris County and surrounding areas. Give me a call if you need expert animal removal and/or live wildlife trapping. We can also perform an inspection of your property to evaluate the problem.

The situations we resolve and main trapping and removal services we provide are: raccoon families in attics and chimneys, woodpeckers drilling siding. mud swallow nests on stucco, rats or squirrels thumping and bumping around inside walls and in attics, voles and gophers destroying lawns, skunks stealing pet food, bat infestations, and snakes living in crawlspaces and stone walls.

Along with physical damage and disease, wild animals also bring along disturbance and nuisance with all their commotion and smell. Raccoons and rats will fight all night and keep people awake; baby raccoons chirp and chitter like little birds; skunk smell takes the cake, but have you ever smelled a dead animal in your ventilation system? We have seen much, much more than these problems, but that is a general idea of the kinds of problems that I and my professional wildlife removal operators are prepared to solve.

Not only do my technicians and I trap and remove problem wild animals, we do a lot of other dirty work, too. Cat-like Reflexes

In order to be a successful wildlife removal technician, you need to be able to think on your feet.  The thing you have to know about wild animals is that they can be unpredictable, you might find yourself in situations you didn’t plan for.  Reaction time and quick thinking can go underappreciated until BOOM, you save the day in the blink of an eye.  Working on a bird job, I found myself in such a situation.  I was doing an inspection for birds inside of a small department store.  I guess an employee had left the break room door open and a small bird had gotten inside.  They called me to see if I could locate it, catch it, and take it back outside where it belonged.

After surveying the isles and sections of the store for about 30 minutes, it seemed like the bird might have left on its own already.  I went to the front customer help desk to talk to the manager about my findings (or lack thereof) and take a look at the security cameras to see if they were picking up on something I hadn’t seen. As I began to explain the situation, the bird landed on a shelf just next to me.  I didn’t have a net or anything on my person, but without hesitation I shot out my hand and took the bird by the feet.  The manager stared at me wide eyed as I released the bird outside and called it a job well done.

Sometimes it takes a lot of work to get a job done right, and sometimes it just takes a 10 second window of opportunity.  The point is, you have to be ready for it all in this business.
